Magic Mine - an answer to social gaming?

Slingo Original’s newest recruit is a world first

From its conception through to creation, Magic Mine had a lot to live up to. Billed as the ‘world’s first true-skill, match 3 style gambling game’, this idea excited the team at Gaming Realms, and it’s easy to see why – not only would it appeal to casual players of games like Candy Crush and Bejwelled, but it would also satisfy the itch to win real cash quickly and easily.

Gamification at its finest

Luckily, Magic Mine pulls off both feats successfully, and in a stunning display of aesthetics and animation to boot. Players have seven moves to match 3 gems for a winning combination, which can be achieved by clicking the diamonds on the grid to mix up the gems. The more diamonds a player collects, the more treasures chests they’ll win, and the higher their cash payout will be. Since a player only has seven moves in which to try and win as many diamonds as possible, there’s a huge emphasis on the ‘skill’ element of Magic Mine – one thoughtless move and a player’s chance of cashing in on big bucks could be dashed.

The game also has ‘Special Pieces’ for players to match which can polish up their win total. Stripe Pieces, Blast Pieces and Chest Pieces add an extra exciting element to the game, allowing players to rack up huge wins when they appear in a winning combination.

Initial reactions to Magic Mine have been extremely positive. Players delight in experiencing something completely novel, yet comfortingly familiar – the thrill of winning real cash mixed with the hugely popular ‘match-3’ format. The team at Slingo Originals can’t wait to see how Magic Mine will perform in the future, in particular how it may shape players’ perceptions of how well social gaming and gambling mix. We think it’s a hit – and we hope you do too.
